I snuck over to both Muppet sets as often as I could - and marvelled at the incredible artistry it takes to produce a room full of Muppets watching television, for example. All of the sets were built up four or five feet off the floor - so right off the bat the process of getting equipment onto the set becomes a whole new logistics ball game. And despite those extra feet of space underneath - there were something like twelve people crammed in under there - some in what seemed distinctly uncomfortable positions. I wish I could have met Jim Henson before he passed. I did get to meet Kermit and his new pal Steve Whitmire though.

I also have to mention this little extra bit - slightly off topic - but we had several Make a Wish kids come to the Dawson's set to visit. Well, one time we had a young man names Brian who was very ill. However, the trip to the set of Dawson's wasn't his wish - it was his sister's - who loved our teen soap with all her heart. This young man gave her his wish - he wanted to see her getting to meet her favorite stars. Well, as it turns out - Hulk Hogan was making a cameo appearance in Muppets from Space - and guess who just happened to be a major wrestling fan? So, I promptly made my way over to the Muppets set and described my request - and in seconds was in the presence of the Hulkster himself. I told him what Brian had done - and that he was a big fan. I asked if he'd drop by our set to surprise Brian. "You got it, brother." And it was one of the best moments I ever had on any set to see Brian's eyes light up when Hulk Hogan suddenly appeared out of nowhere on the Dawson's set and spent several minutes with him. I'm sorry to have nattered on so long about this - but I love remembering stories like this.Craig Edwardshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06037542638067599437noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3070623657970000135.post-24210938013178986072014-04-21T13:40:53.274-07:002014-04-21T13:40:53.274-07:00I assure you, Hilary, it's definitely worth yo...I assure you, Hilary, it's definitely worth your time. I don't use the word "genius" lightly, but Jim Henson was clearly a very special individual.
